Salmmah Women's Resource Centre .  

Salmmah was initiated by a group of Sudanese women in 1997 as a non-profitable civil society organisation especially dedicated to support women organisations and women issues. Salmmah has a special devotion to the combat of violence against women and the acquisition of the human rights.

Vision

Salmmah envisions a society in which Sudanese women and men share equal rights. It works for a future in which Sudanese women will be no longer deprived of educational and economic opportunities, health care and self-determination. Salmmah dedicates its endeavours towards structural, political and legal changes that protect women from gender-based violence, oppression and discriminatory ownership rights.

Mission

Salmmah’s an autonomous women and gender resource centre providing women and men with information on feminism, violence against women and sexuality based on scientific research. The centre has a leading role in research, documentation and dissemination of knowledge and information on women/human rights in Sudan. Salmmah works in alliance with other civil society organisations and supports partners to develop their capacities. The main focus is on mobilising and empowering women groups in order to influence policies and achieve effective positive change in the Sudanese society.

Overall Goal

Salmmah aims at realising social justice in women, human rights and gender-related issues through providing professional services such as research, documentation, training, and proper quality management systems.

Programmes and activities .  

Youth Programme, i.e. Building capacitiy for young people; Youth Human Rights Defenders in IDP settlements.

The MOTIVE Project (Movement Towards Imminent Violence Eradication), i.e. Women’s forums; documentation of Sudanese women’s movement.

SuWEP (Sudanese Women Empowerment for Peace), i.e. Sexuality Project; Legal Reform Programme.

Documentation Centre, which comprises of library, research and publishing unit.
